Question
How do I fix the Jabra Lifter? It goes up and down randomly.

Answer

The Jabra wireless headsets are designed to work with various telephones. Most phones will work fine with the default setting on the wireless headset.  If your lifter is acting erratic you will need to change the "default mode" for the Remote Call control within the settings of the wireless headset to "GN1000/RHL mode".  The default mode performs "auto sensing" for incoming calls that does not perform well on certain phones such as NEC and Toshiba phones. In most cases the fix below will clear up the problem.  If this does not clear up the problem you may need to replace the lifter.  You can purchase a new GN1000 lifter here.

To change this setting on a Jabra 920 visit page 25 of the user manual for instructions on how to change the Remote Call Control mode.  Otherwise you can follow the steps below.

1 Start setup mode

• Put on the headset.

• Simultaneously press and hold both headset volume buttons until the voice prompt says “setup” and then release the buttons.

2 Setup mode

• The round, black headset button on the Jabra 920 headset is used to cycle through the main settings (Mute reminder, Ringtone, Audio Protection, Wireless Range, Auto Sleep, Remote Call Control, Wideband Audio).

• The base lights ,or voice prompts are used to indicate which setting and value is currently selected.

• When you get to "Remote Call Control" use the Volume up/down button.  Now select "GN1000/RHL/none"

3 End setup mode

When finished, simultaneously press and hold both headset volume buttons until the voice prompt says “Goodbye” and then release the buttons. the base will restart and update the settings, indicated by the white battery icon on the base.

If you have several headsets that are experience this issue you can copy the headset settings to multiple Jabra 920 wireless units by doing the steps below.
