Question
What is required to use EHS (electronic hook switch) with my Aastra phone ( 6753i, 6755i, 6757i, and 6757i)?

Answer

Many users find it useful to use EHS - Electronic Hook Switch for answering calls through the wireless headset rather then the older mechanical "lifters". When using the following Aastra phones: 6753i, 6755i, 6757i, and 6757i you need to enable DHSG settings on both the wireless headset as well as the Aastra phone.  You will also need the correct DHSG cables.  We provide a kit for both Plantronics DHSG and Jabra DHSG wireless headsets

Note: For Jabra wireless headset you will need to configure the Remote Call control to "DHSG".  The default mode is "auto".DHSG_cable_for_plantronics_aastra

Configuring the Aastra Phone

  1. On the phone go into Options (you may need the admin password)
  2. Select "Preferences"
  3. Select "Set Audio"
  4. Select "DHSG"
  5. Select "Done"

TIP: When installing the wireless headset try to install the items the following order:

  1. Configure DHSG settings on phone first
  2. Install the cables between the phone and wireless base without the power adapter into the base unit
  3. Connect power last adapter to wireless base unit
  4. Restart the Aastra phone
  5. You can now use the wireless headset
